During the operational life of any vessel, its hull is constantly subject to the mercy of the environment that it operates in. As a result of this, the anti-fouling paint systems deplete, or simply fail due to mechanical damage or incompatible operating patterns.
With fuel prices remaining at a significant level, vessels burning excess fuel as a result of fouling cannot operate profitably or effectively. It is therefore extremely beneficial to remove fouling once present and keep the underwater hull vetoed of any onset of fouling, be it a localized area resulting from berth bottom contact or full anti-fouling system failures.
Fouling may also obscure structural defects which would go unseen if the growth were not removed prior to in-water surveys.
Working together with our technical partners UMC International, we utilise various types of underwater hull cleaning equipment that ranges from small hand-held units for niche areas, up to the large high-output 'Mini-Pamper' vehicle designed for rapid cleaning on flat bottom and vertical ship-sides.
By selecting the exact type of rotary brush or non-abrasive pad for the specific coating type (including sensitive silicone and foul-release coatings) and degree of marine growth, we clean hulls thoroughly without damaging the underlying anti-fouling system.
